PRIVACY POLICY

Overview

Kyte is built local-first. Your blocklists, allowlists, schedules, and activity stay on your device. We collect only what is necessary to deliver the paid Mac app (your email address for license delivery and sign-in) and to process payments (handled by Razorpay).

The Chrome extension collects no personal data and requires no account. Its manifest declares no data collection, and it operates entirely in your browser.

What we collect

For the Mac app purchase

  • Your email address, to send you the license key and download link.
  • Payment information (handled by Razorpay; we do not store credit card details).
  • Order metadata: purchase date, amount, Razorpay order/payment IDs, license key issued.

This data is stored in our database (Supabase) to validate licenses and provide support. We do not sell this data, share it with third parties (except payment processor and infrastructure providers below), or use it for marketing without your consent.

For the Chrome extension

The Chrome extension collects no personal data. It reads your blocklist and allowlist (which you configure locally in the extension) to enforce blocking. This data never leaves your browser. We do not track which sites you visit, which sites you block, or how you use the extension.

For the Mac app usage

The Mac app stores your blocklists, allowlists, schedules, and session history locally on your Mac. This data is never uploaded to our servers. No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. The app does not phone home.

How we use your data

  • Your email is used to send the license key, download link, and transactional updates (license expiry, support responses).
  • Order records are used to validate licenses when you sign in and to provide customer support.
  • We may use aggregated, anonymized data (total purchases, refund rate) for internal analytics, but this is never tied to individual users.

Third parties

We rely on third-party services to deliver Kyte. These services have access to limited data as necessary:

  • Razorpay (payment processor): handles payment information. See Razorpay’s privacy policy.
  • Supabase (database): stores order records and license keys. See Supabase’s privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare R2 (file storage): hosts the Mac app DMG for download. Cloudflare does not have access to personal data (download links are presigned and short-lived).
  • Google Sign-In (optional): if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email and name (no password). See Google’s privacy policy.
  • Vercel (hosting): hosts this website and API routes. Vercel logs are ephemeral and not linked to personal data.

Data retention

We retain order and license data for as long as your license is active, plus a reasonable period for support and legal obligations (typically 7 years for financial records under Indian law). You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at buildkyte@gmail.com.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you (email us for a data export).
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (we will delete it unless required to retain it for legal reasons).
  • Opt out of marketing emails (transactional emails, like license delivery, cannot be opted out of).

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of Kyte after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
